Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

• The Chief Academic Officer/Provost is responsible for the Accreditation Liaison Officer function of the institution.
• Provides administrative oversight in areas of instructional programs, academic planning, curricula, and scheduling; instructional technology, distance learning,
accreditation, and assessment.
• Monitors faculty credit hour production (CHP) by reviewing, revising, and approving faculty course loads and office hours schedule.
• Provides strategic vision and leadership for curriculum and new program development, academic policy development, assessment, staffing/scheduling for the
academic programs of the College and assures timely and effective instructional program review.
• Responsible for coordinating annual review and revision of the College catalog and schedule with various functional units.
• Accountable for institutional effectiveness related to academic instruction.
• Facilitates strategic partnerships with K-12 districts, other colleges and universities, employers, and other stakeholders.
• Supervises and evaluates division deans and other identified staff and makes recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, and termination of unit employees.
• Provides leadership for the institutional accreditation process.
• Assists the President’s Cabinet in identifying, establishing, and evaluating the College's goals and objectives. Formulates, recommends, and implements strategies
to meet these goals and objectives.
• May perform related work as required or assigned by the President.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university. A doctorate is preferred.
• Five or more years of administrative experience in higher education is required. Community College administrative experience preferred.
• Five or more years of full-time equivalent college-level teaching experience is required.
• Must hold the rank of Professor.
• Three years experience as an Accrediation Liaison Officer (ALO) is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of community college systems nationally, regionally, and in West Virginia.
• Ensure the College meets and exceeds the standards set forth by the Higher Learning Commission, West Virginia Community and Technical College System,
internal governance, program accreditation agencies, and other regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of strategic enrollment management and the ability to apply them effectively in a highly competitive market.
• Experience with student assessment, student success, and accreditation processes and requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
• Experience in developing programs for traditional, non-traditional, and workforce development programs.
• Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the mission and philosophy of community colleges.
• Must have a strong commitment to excellent customer service, demonstrating a people-first attitude, patience to communicate with various interdisciplinary teams
and users, attentiveness, creativity, and resourcefulness.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and simultaneously on projects of varied complexity, carrying out each to its conclusion with a very high level of effectiveness.
• Highly organized with the ability to carry out assignments requiring the organization of material, analysis of data, and the preparation of pertinent reports,
presentations, and recommendations.
